I can see how a lot of people get drawn into that time trap. I think for me it is the money more than anything. The big stuff you need to fix on houses is really expensive and it can be daunting to think about it. Part of the reason we waited ten years longer than we should have to get a new roof. Of course now the prices are higher, so did we really do ourselves any favors by waiting? Probably not. I think the biggest thing with buying a house is deciding how much you want your monthly payment to be and go from there. Don't worry about what you get pre-approved for or how much buying power you have, just find something that fits with what you want to spend per month. That's usually the advice I give people.
