Why, Hello There!

Hello Steemians! Is it okay that I call you Steemians? Mucho gusto.

Please feel free to refer to me as lxscarrot, or Alexes. I am 23 years old, an avid eater, and a lover of people! I shuffle through hobbies, and so my go-to response to the question, “What do you do for fun?” is often, “Anything!” My semi-unpopular goal in life is to be a jack of many trades while likely mastering none in the process. As much as we like to ignore it, mortality is imminent, and so with this one life I have I want to learn and experience as many things as possible.

Some more details about me!

While English is my native tongue, some other languages I know (and forget, because I don't practice) to varying degrees are: Spanish, Korean, and Swahili. Without getting deep into the highs and lows of learning a new language, I just want to send out a big thank you to everyone who is kind to foreign-language learners as we learn.

The harp was the first instrument I ever learned to play, and I learned it at university. I play it intermittently when I have access to one, because I don’t own one. I read memoirs to remind myself that struggle and adversity is not unique to just me, and to develop a better understanding of those who are not like me. While it’s easier to say than to actually live by, I believe in the phrase, “Life is better, together.”

Mostly recently I graduated from university and am now occupying space in the directionless post-graduation job-hunt fog. Team WillIEverUseThisDegree? My degree program was environmental engineering, and my focus was on water/wastewater resources and ecohydrology. One day I hope to work in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector as some sort of technical expert, helping improve the quality of life for people by giving them access to clean water. But, for now I am a lowly entry-level. May the employment gods smile upon me.

On this platform I will aim to provide a variety of content, from thoughtful opinion pieces to educational factoids to anecdotal blurbs about things that seem relevant or neat. If there are any Steemit communities in which you guys think I should look in to, please let me know! I can’t wait to read more content from you guys.
