Steemfest 3 - Recap

Today is the last day of the Steemfest, which has taken place this week in Krakow. Meanwhile I' m already 24h in Vienna again and want to wirte a few lines about the event. I already left on Saturday because I had an appointment in the evening that I could not reschedule. My participation at Steemfest 3 was quite spontaneous and at short notice. but thanks to @berndpfeiffer and @limesoda it worked out.

Heute ist der letzte Tag des Steemfests welches dieses Woche in Krakau stattgefunden hat. Ich bin mittlerweile schon wieder 24h in Wien und schreibe nun ein paar Zeilen zum Event. Ich bin schon am Samstag abgereist da ich am Abend einen Termin hatte den ich nicht verschieben wollte. Meine Teilnahme am Steemfest 3 ist nämlich Dank @berndpfeiffer und @limesoda recht spontan und kurzfristig entstanden.

Day 0 + 1 - Tag 0 + 1

On Wednesday I went directly to the train after an examination and a presentation at my University. I decided to take the train to Krakow because I wanted to save CO². Of course, I knew that it would be much more stress-free, easier and ironically even cheaper to fly, but I decided to take the 7h train ride. In the end, thanks to a problem on the train, it turned out to be 9h journey. A proud performance for only a distance of 440km. When I arrived in Krakow I immediately went to the hotel room, which I shared with @nissla and @maybelater (both from @limesoda). I just fell into bed, as I got up early for my exam at 6am that day and it was midnight anyway. Only @alexvan had to laugh that I didn't celebrate the day of my arrival like I had done at @steem.camp.

Am Mittwoch ging es direkt nach einer Prüfung und einer Präsentation nach der Hochschule direkt zum Zug. Ich entschied mich dafür mit dem Zug nach Krakau zu fahren, da ich CO² sparen wollte. Natürlich wusste ich dass es viel stressfreier, einfacher und ironischerweise sogar günstiger wäre zu fliegen, jedoch entschied ich mich für die 7h Zugfahrt. Schlussendlich wurden dank eines Schadens am Zug 9h draus. Stolze Leistung für nur zirka 440km. In Krakau angekommen gings sofort zum Hotelzimmer, welches ich mir mit @nissla und @maybelater (beide von @limesoda) teilte. Ich fiel nur noch ins Bett, ich war an dem Tag für meine Prüfung um 6Uhr früh aufgestanden und es war sowieso schon Mitternacht. Nur @alexvan musste lachen dass ich wie damals beim @steem.camp schon wieder am Ankunftstag nicht feiern ging.

The next day flew by. As soon as I had received my Goodie-Pack at the registration (which I will give away as you will read below), @roelandp was already doing his opening speech of the event. Directly after that @ned was on the stage and answered interview questions about the platform and its future. It was actually less marketing talk than I expected, but rather felt very honest and with direct answers. Afterwards there were countless presentations, among others by the Austrians @Gexi and @MannCPT who presented their @globalschool project together with @mammasitta.

Der nächste Tag verging wie im Flug. Kaum hatte ich bei der Anmeldung mein Goodie-Pack bekommen (wovon ich wie ihr unten lesen werdet viel verschenken werde) war auch schon die Eröffnungsrede von @roelandp. Direkt danach war auch @ned auf der Stage und beantwortete Interviewfragen rund um die Plattform. Es war tatsächlich weniger Marketinggerede als erwartet, sondern gefühlt sehr ehrliche und direkte Antworten. Danach gab es unzählige Präsentationen, unter anderem von den Österreichern @Gexi und @MannCPT die gemeinsam mit @mammasitta ihr @globalschool Projekt vorgestellt haben.

After many more presentations in the afternoon and an excellent dinner there was a bowling tournament coming up. Together with @theaustrianguy and the Limesoda boys we formed TeamAustria. Unfortunately we had to lose in the round of 16 against TeamGermany (the name hurts a lot). But @louis88 and @rivalzzz played really well and took the first place for a reason. Nevertheless we all had a lot of fun, even more after being eliminated from the tournament.

Nach vielen weiteren Präsentationen am Nachmittag und einen genialen Abendessen wurde Bowling gespielt. Gemeinsam mit @theaustrianguy und den Limesoda-Jungs haben wir TeamAustria gebildet. Leider mussten wir dann im Achtelfinale knapp gegen TeamGermany (ja der Name tut besonders weh) verlieren. Aber @louis88 und @rivalzzz haben echt gut gespielt und sich nicht ohne Grund dann auch den ersten Platz geholt. Nichtsdestotrotz hatten wir alle einen riesen Spaß, nach dem Ausscheiden aus dem Tunier sogar noch mehr.

Day 2 - Tag 2

After not enough sleep and a quick breakfast we headed for the next location. Every day the locations for the presentations/events were different, this provided a refreshing variety of places to visit. On this day I was really impressed by some presentations. Already the day before the level was good, but the second day was really brilliant. Especially the presentations of @partiko who presented a new version of their app with a integrated message function and the @appics presentation were highly professional. I also downloaded both apps directly, normally I never do anything like that so quickly.

Nach zu wenig Schlaf und einem schnellen Frühstück ging es nur nächsten Lokation. An jedem Tag waren die Präsentationen/Events nämlich wo anders, dies sorgte für coole Abwechslung. An diesen Tag war ich von ein paar Präsentationen echt sehr angetan. Schon am Tag davor war das Niveau gut, heute sollte es jedoch wirklich genial werden. Vor allem die Präsentationen von @partiko die eine neue Version ihrer App vorgestellt haben samt integrierten Message-Funktion und @appics war hoch professionell. Beide Apps habe ich mir vor Ort auch direkt runtergeladen, obwohl ich so etwas sonst nie mache.

After another delicious dinner and many cool conversations the party was next. A nightclub full of Steemians, I could never have imagined anything like that. But it was a lot of fun! So many funny conversations and jokes, again time flew way too fast. I went on with @theaustrianguy to another club where we celebrated until (I think) 5 o'clock in the morning. Only 3 hours later the alarm clock rang. I had to catch my train back. And I missed it by just five minutes. Fortunately I was somehow clever enough to handle the situation, despite lack of sleep and quickly knew a solution. I bought a Flixbus ticket to a city where the train would stop. So I could catch the train in the Czech Republic and still use my train ticket. So you can also see it as an advantage that the Polish trains are so slow.

Nach einen weiteren leckeren Abendessen und vielen coolen Gesprächen war Party angesagt. Ein Club voller Steemians, sowas hätte ich mir nie und nimmer vorstellen können. Aber es war ein riesen Spaß! So viele lustige Gespräche und Scherze, wiederum verflog die Zeit viel zu schnell. Ich ging dann mit @theaustrianguy noch weiter in einen anderen Club wo wir bis (glaube ich) 5 Uhr in der Früh feierten. Nur 3 Stunden später läutete jedenfalls der Wecker. Ich musste meinen Zug zurück erwischen. Und das habe ich um 5min nicht geschafft. Zum Glück war ich, trotz Schlafmangels halbwegs klug und wusste schnell eine Lösung. Ich kaufte mir ein Flixbus Ticket zu einer Stadt, wo auch der Zug stehen bleiben würde. So konnte ich den Zug in Tschechien einholen und noch mein Zugticket weiter verwenden. Also kann man es auch als Vorteil sehen dass die polnischen Züge so langsam sind.

As already mentioned in the text above, every Steemfest participant has received a Goodiepack. Beside many flyers and stickers there were also some very cool things. Among others the t-shirt and the scarf you see in the pictures. Who already knows me a little personally knows, that I am a quite minimistic person. I don't want to own more T-shirts than I consider necessary, the same is true for the scarf. Accordingly, I would very much like to give both goodies to someone who is happy about them.

The shipping costs are on me (as long as you live in the EU, with exotic countries we have to look at it again). The T-shirt is the size XL, but I'd rather say it's an L since I usually wear M.

Wie schon oben im Text erwähnt hat jeder Steemfest-Teilnehmer ein Goodiepack bekommen. Neben vielen Flyern und Sticker waren auch ein paar sehr coole Dinge dabei. Unter anderem das T-Shirt und der Schal den ihr in den Bildern sieht. Wer mich schon ein wenig persönlich kennt ist, das ich ein recht minimalistischer Mensch bin. Ich möchte nicht mehr T-Shirts besitzen als ich es unbedingt als notwendig erachte, das selbe gilt auch für den Schal. Dementsprechend würde ich sehr gerne beide Goodies jemanden gegeben der sich darüber freut.

Also falls ihr Interesse habt, dann schreibt mir einfach einen Kommentar warum ihr das Tshirt und den Schal haben wollt. Der Versand geht auf mich

(so lange ihr zumindest in der EU wohnt, bei exotischen Ländern müssen wir uns das noch einmal ansehen). Das-Tshirt ist die Größe XL, jedoch würde ich eher sagen es ist ein L, da ich normalerweise M trage.

Summary - Fazit

My 2.5 days at Steemfest are passed way too fast. And for good reason, there was always something to be amazed about, something funny to do or a good conversation to have. I wouldn't have thought that I could take so much with me from this event as a small user without huge expert knowledge. I have also met so incredibly many users whom I always wanted to meet. It's impossible for me to list everyone here because I would always forget at least someone. Thanks to all of you anyway! I wouldn't have anything against a Steemfest 4. Maybe in Vienna? I would organize a free hiking trip. Yes, you can quote me on that.

Meine 2,5 Tage beim Steemfest sind verflogen. Und das aus guten Grund, es gab immer etwas zu staunen, etwas lustiges zu unternehmen oder ein gutes Gespräch zu führen. Ich hätte nicht gedacht das ich als doch kleiner User ohne riesiges Fachwissen so viel von dieser Veranstaltung mitnehmen zu können. Ich habe auch so unglaublich viele User getroffen, die ich immer schon mal treffen wollte. Es ist unmöglich für mich alle hier aufzulisten weil ich immer wen vergessen würde. Danke an euch alle jedenfalls! Ich hätte jedenfalls nichts gegen ein Steemfest 4. Vielleicht ja in Wien? Ich würde einen gratis Wandertrip organisieren. Keine Sorge, ich würde dazu stehen.
