Hoy decidí traerles una reseña de uno de mis videojuegos favoritos de la infancia, “Twisted Metal 4”. Y sí, mis papás me dejaban jugar esta vaina a los 6 años jajajaja. Hablemos un poco sobre la creación del juego y su historia, ya que me gustaría profundizar con ustedes en lo que fue este juego y darle el honor que se merecen a los creadores del mismo. # ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmcJ5fHT24XgMxe3rJxeY1MgVwL4i2BUDavRDqrXT4YxfD/photo_2024_02_16_14_05_08.jpg) # Twisted Metal 4 es un videojuego de combate en vehículos que se lanzó en 1999 para la consola PlayStation, que por cierto me hace recordar las películas de "La carrera de la muerte". Fue el cuarto juego de la saga Twisted Metal y el segundo y último que desarrolló el estudio 989 Studios. El juego se centró en la historia de Sweet Tooth, el payaso psicópata que era el personaje más emblemático de la competición Twisted Metal, y cómo se rebeló contra Calypso, el misterioso organizador del torneo, para tomar el control del mismo y conceder los deseos de los ganadores. No tuve la oportunidad de jugar las entregas anteriores, pero según lo que estuve leyendo en internet, la cuarta entrega se diferencia bastante de las pasadas. Se introdujo un nuevo sistema de control de los vehículos, que permitía realizar más acrobacias y maniobras. Por otro lado, cada escenario contaba con su propio jefe final, que había que derrotar para avanzar en el modo historia. Además, el juego incluyó un editor de personajes y vehículos, que permitía al jugador crear sus propios contendientes y personalizar sus armas y aspecto, opción que yo personalmente usé bastante, aunque me gustaba jugar con un personaje del juego llamado "Orbital". # https://i.imgur.com/xKmuVC7.png Personaje Orbital. [Fuente](https://twistedmetal.fandom.com/wiki/Orbital) # El juego recibió críticas mixtas por parte de la prensa especializada, que lo consideró una mejora respecto al anterior Twisted Metal III, especialmente en el diseño de los niveles, pero aún inferior a los dos primeros títulos de la saga. El juego obtuvo una puntuación media de 68.04% en el sitio web GameRankings, el cuál aparentemente es ahora [Metacritic](https://www.metacritic.com/game/), mientras que Twisted Metal III solo había conseguido un 49%. Algunos de los aspectos más criticados fueron la calidad gráfica, la inteligencia artificial de los enemigos y la falta de originalidad de algunos personajes. # Gameplay hecho por [Kawaii Games](https://www.youtube.com/@KawaiiGames) # Esta entrega vendió más de un millón de copias solo en Estados Unidos, lo que le valió ser reeditado como parte de la línea Sony Greatest Hits en el año 2000. Sin embargo, el juego no se lanzó en las regiones PAL, por lo que los jugadores europeos y australianos se quedaron sin poder disfrutarlo. El juego también tuvo una adaptación a cómic, que se publicó en el año 2000 y que narraba las historias de algunos de los personajes del juego. Twisted Metal 4 fue el último juego de la saga que se desarrolló para la PlayStation original. El siguiente juego, Twisted Metal: Black, se lanzó en 2001 para PlayStation 2 y fue un cambio radical en el tono y el estilo de la saga, que se volvió más oscuro y violento. El juego también ignoró los acontecimientos de Twisted Metal 4 y retomó la historia de Calypso como el organizador del torneo, así como si nada jajaja. [Fuente](https://www.gamespot.com/games/twisted-metal-2012/reviews/) # Ya hablamos un poco de la historia del juego y la saga, las ventas y todos los detalles relacionados al juego. Personalmente fue un juego que marcó bastante mi infancia, ya que estaba en mi top 3 de juegos mas jugados en mi PSOne. Ante mis ojos era una obra de arte perfecta y disfrutaba cada minuto que lo jugaba, a pesar de que era repetitivo y me había pasado la historia una y otra vez sin parar jajaja. La música hacia el juego incluso mas inmersivo, junto con la ambientación de cada mapa. Como les mencioné al principio del post, uno de mis personajes favoritos era Orbital, ya que me gustaba su rapidez y su arma especial. En cuanto a los mapas, debo decir que mis favoritos siempre fueron "Sweet Tooths Bedroom", el cual es un mapa de una habitación, literalmente, y "The Carnival", un mapa de un parque de atracciones bastante grande. # Gameplay en mapa "Sweet Tooths Bedroom" hecho por [Spectrevers Network](https://www.youtube.com/@kodxhand) # Una de las cosas mas interesantes que a mi me ha parecido, es el pequeño librito que trae en la carcaza del disco, donde nos muestran todo acerca del juego. Allí podemos ver las instrucciones para cualquier acción dentro del juego, así como también nos enseñan los mapas, ataques y municiones, combos, tácticas avanzadas y lo que yo considero mejor, cada personaje con su vehículo, nombre, edad, de donde es y su biografía personal.

Tengo cerca de dos años de la ultima vez que encendí mi consola y me puse a jugar, pero con la creación de este post me motive a hacerlo una vez mas jajaja. Puede que descargue un emulador de PSOne en mi PC y grabe algunos gameplays para ustedes mas adelante pasándome el torneo completo. Si has llegado hasta aquí, te doy las gracias. Today I decided to bring you a review of one of my favorite video games from my childhood, "Twisted Metal 4". And yes, my parents let me play this game when I was 6 years old hahahaha. Let's talk a little bit about the creation of the game and its history, since I would like to go deeper with you on what this game was and give the honor they deserve to the creators of it. # ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmcJ5fHT24XgMxe3rJxeY1MgVwL4i2BUDavRDqrXT4YxfD/photo_2024_02_16_14_05_08.jpg) # Twisted Metal 4 is a vehicle combat video game released in 1999 for the PlayStation console, which incidentally reminds me of the "Death Race" movies. It was the fourth game in the Twisted Metal saga and the second and last game developed by 989 Studios. The game focused on the story of Sweet Tooth, the psychopathic clown who was the most iconic character of the Twisted Metal competition, and how he rebelled against Calypso, the mysterious organizer of the tournament, to take control of the tournament and grant the wishes of the winners. I didn't have the chance to play the previous installments, but according to what I was reading online, the fourth installment is quite different from the past ones. A new vehicle control system was introduced, which allowed for more stunts and maneuvers. On the other hand, each stage had its own final boss, which had to be defeated to advance in the story mode. Personally it was a game that marked my childhood, as it was in my top 3 most played games on my PSOne. In my eyes it was a perfect work of art and I enjoyed every minute I played it, even though it was repetitive and I had played the story over and over again without stopping hahaha. The music made the game even more immersive, along with the ambience of each map. As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, one of my favorite characters was Orbital, as I liked his speed and his special weapon. As for the maps, I must say that my favorites were always "Sweet Tooths Bedroom", which is a map of a room, literally, and "The Carnival", a map of a rather large amusement park. # Gameplay on map "Sweet Tooths Bedroom" made by [Spectrevers Network](https://www.youtube.com/@kodxhand) # One of the most interesting things that I found, is the little booklet that comes in the disc case, where they show us everything about the game. There we can see the instructions for any action within the game, as well as the maps, attacks and ammunition, combos, advanced tactics and what I consider the best, each character with his vehicle, name, age, where he is from and his personal biography.

I have about two years since the last time I turned on my console and started playing, but with the creation of this post I'm motivated to do it one more time hahaha.
