Después de haber publicado mi introduceyourself en #Hive, quise hablar de un tópico del cual me gusta bastante expresarme: “El orgullo”

After posting my introduceyourself on #Hive, I wanted to talk about a topic that I quite like to express myself on, "The pride".

En estos tiempos de pandemia, donde muchos estamos en nuestras casas, es bueno aprovechar para mirar dentro de nosotros mismos, nuestras actitudes, nuestras virtudes, e incluso nuestros defectos. Siempre es tiempo para cambiar a mejor, y creo que el orgullo es buen tema que siempre está presente en nuestras vidas. ¡Vamos a ello!

In these times of pandemic, where many of us are at home, it is good to take the opportunity to look inside ourselves, our attitudes, our virtues, and even our defects. It is always time to change for the better, and I believe that pride is a good theme that is always present in our lives. Let's get to it!

¿Qué es el orgullo? Bueno, depende que tipo de orgullo estemos hablando, positivo o negativo. El orgullo positivo le podemos denominar autoestima o autoconfianza, mientras que el orgullo negativo le podemos llamar arrogancia. En esta ocasión, me centraré únicamente en el orgullo negativo.

Ese orgullo negativo es posiblemente una de las armas más peligrosas que tenemos dentro de nosotros, sin incluso quererla usar, y mucho menos la sabemos controlar. ¿En qué ocasiones nos podemos ver perjudicado por culpa de nuestra soberbia?

En los conflictos entre amigos, el orgullo nos impide pedir perdón o disculparnos de primero, porque nos pasa por la mente: “Yo no me voy a disculpar hasta que la otra persona lo haga”, o cuando estamos peleados con nuestra pareja el orgullo no nos permite ver aquellos errores que cometemos, pensando así que somos perfectos, y es la otra persona que se equivoca, ¡eso es una total mentira! Y así, un sin de ocasiones donde tenemos conflictos también con nuestros familiares o cualquier otra persona cercana, que no arreglamos por culpa de nuestra soberbia.

That negative pride is possibly one of the most dangerous weapons we have inside us, without even wanting to use it, and much less knowing how to control it. On what occasions can we be harmed because of our arrogance?

In conflicts between friends, pride prevents us from asking for forgiveness or apologizing first, because we think: "I am not going to apologize until the other person does it", or when we are fighting with our partner, pride does not allow us to see the mistakes we make, thinking that we are perfect, and it is the other person who is wrong, that is a total lie! And so, there are many occasions where we also have conflicts with our relatives or any other person close to us, that we do not fix because of our arrogance.

¿Quién dijo que nosotros somos perfectos? Ninguno de nosotros lo es, de lo contrario fuéramos Dioses, pero no lo somos. Así que, ¿por qué no dejamos esa soberbia a un lado, para ver las cosas como sí son?

Tenemos que dejar de pensar que somos el centro del mundo, que somos mejores que los demás, y dejar de mirar a los demás por encima del hombro. Somos humanos, somos especiales y únicos, pero seguimos siendo personas como los demás, y nadie es mejor que otro.

Who said that we are perfect? None of us are, otherwise we would be Gods, but we are not. So, why don't we leave that pride aside, to see things as they are?

We have to stop thinking that we are the center of the world, that we are better than others, and stop looking down on others. We are human, we are special and unique, but we are still people like everyone else, and no one is better than anyone else.

Tristemente solemos seguir en nuestra burbuja de orgullo, pensando que somos perfectos y mejores que todos a nuestro alrededor, sin siquiera darnos cuenta que con esta actitud nuestra vida se puede ver muy perjudicada.

Sadly we continue to be in our bubble of pride, thinking that we are perfect and better than everyone around us, without even realizing that with this attitude our life can be greatly harmed.

El problema no radica únicamente en que lastimes a las personas con tu soberbia, que de por sí está mal, sino que además desperdicias tu tiempo, porque no dices las cosas cuándo debiste hacerlo. Un día puedes estar bien con una persona, al otro día te peleaste, pasa el tiempo sin que ninguno de los dos se disculpe (ambos cegados por su orgullo), ¿y después? Pues resulta que te diste cuenta de tu error, y te quieres disculpar, pero ha pasado tanto tiempo que la persona está muy lejos de ti, emocionalmente y quizás físicamente.

¿Tan grande era tu orgullo que no te disculpaste cuándo debías? De ser ese el caso, pues déjame decirte que no te imaginas el daño que por dentro hace a tu vida. Obviamente, yo no te digo esto solo a ti que me estás leyendo, me lo digo también a mí mismo. Yo también perdí amistades por no decir perdón cuando debía, incluso, no se trata incluso cuando tú te equivocas, si la otra persona se equivocó, también perdónala ¿de qué nos sirve vivir amargados, con soberbia, rompiendo amistades o relaciones sin que nos importe? Pues de nada en realidad. En cambio, vivir de forma amable, entregada a los demás, con amor y perdón nos permite ser más empáticos, y nos evita amarguras en el corazón

The problem is not only that you hurt people with your pride, which in itself is wrong, but also that you waste your time, because you don't say things when you should have. Was your pride so great that you did not apologize when you should have? If that's the case, then let me tell you that you can't imagine the damage it does to your life. Obviously, I am not saying this only to you who are reading this, I am also saying it to myself. I also lost friendships for not saying sorry when I should have, even, it is not even when you make a mistake, if the other person made a mistake, forgive them too. What good does it do us to live bitter, with arrogance, breaking friendships or relationships without caring? Well, nothing really. On the other hand, living in a kind way, with love and forgiveness, allows us to be more empathetic, and avoids bitterness in our hearts.

Deja tu soberbia a un lado. No hace bien al corazón, no te hace bien a ti, y no les hace bien a las personas que están a tu alrededor. No le des la espalda a quien un día te demostró su cariño, su apoyo, su presencia, su amistad y su amor, porque un día esta persona estará en tu vida, y otro día puede que no esté.

Es importante que sepamos reconocer nuestros errores, y no nos ceguemos por el orgullo que llevamos dentro. Perdona, pide disculpas, y aprende a amar. Si sabes hacer esto, tienes la mitad del recorrido a la felicidad ya listo, sin embargo, hay muchas otras en las cuales trabajar para mejorar la versión de nosotros mismos, ¡Pero esas las dejaremos para otro momento!

Leave your pride aside. It doesn't do your heart any good, it doesn't do you any good, and it doesn't do the people around you any good. Do not turn your back on those who one day showed you their affection, support, presence, friendship and love, because one day this person will be in your life, and another day he or she may not be there.

It is important that we know how to recognize our mistakes, and not be blinded by the pride we carry inside. Forgive, apologize, and learn to love. If you know how to do this, you have half of the road to happiness ready, however, there are many others to work on to improve the version of ourselves, but we'll leave those for another time!
