I've always been of the thought that one should question everything you've ever told while growing up. One of those things that have got me interrogating constantly, is the actual legitimacy of the weed business.

With legalization already in 29 states and the District of Columbia in some form, and 7 states that already allow the plant for recreational use, the business opportunities start to increase and, it is finally making weed widely accepted among the population.

This has enabled the creation of an industry that not only keeps on growing and increasing in demand -by opening opportunities for new jobs, new projects and new technology applications for the Cannabis industry- but also one of the most profitable after Main Stream Media in the 90's and the .com companies boom back in the early 2000's.

However...

Not everything is as smooth as it sounds. Federal Law in the United States allocates Marihuana as a Schedule 1 Drug, along with Heroin, MDMA, DMT and Mescaline (to mention a few). This means that, while legal on those 29 states, it is still prohibited under Federal Law, making it difficult for these businesses to make regular day-to-day operation transactions vital to their ventures, such as paying for utilities, rent, or even supplies and salaries.

Yep, running a Cannabis related business is super profitable, but dangerous and sketchy as it requires all transactions to be done by cash. These businesses can't deposit their profits on banks because weed is still prohibited by federal law, and it brings endless trouble to Cannabis business owners, who sometimes can't even lease a building where to run their venture.

What the f%^& is Paragon?

The Business Model

Forbes aims to a bright future on this industry, which obviously seems to increase in the following months, thanks to Senator Orrin Hatch introducing legislation on Medical Cannabis research.
