I've been doing review posts for a while now, so today I wanted to do something different, a little analysis about all the elements that make up a video game and make it a work of art in the process. I will do the analysis under my own experience and captures that I have taken along the time and that contribute to this analysis. Are video games art? Of course they are, and the question to the answer will always be the same. Video games are one of the most complex art forms that exist today, as they combine arts such as literature, painting, cinema (sometimes), music and architecture (sometimes). In addition to all of the above, they also use many complex elements such as programming, knowledge in game design, scenarios and of course knowing how to combine all the elements so that together, they form a true work of art. All this is something that once you analyze it, you realize how incredibly ingenious, complex and incredible is the work of developing a video game, and for this reason I usually admire indie developers who make their games alone or with the support of only a couple of people and for this reason I feel that indie games have much more merit than a AAA, where usually thousands of people are involved in their development, and they have behind them gigantic marketing teams and heartless businessmen who only seek to maximize profits, without caring that their game can be bad or broken at launch for not wanting to give developers the freedom and time needed to make a decent game. ![20230327120351_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/chanclex/23vhWHaNX6b6jo5QHktw2w7ERYHbx8Tci91bCk44C441tPgvu4ovwSiGudvXeNuAw4GYV.jpg) Of course, I am not saying that a AAA can not become art as well as an indie, there are many games that are the total exception, and more in the gaming industry for years as may be the case of Rockstar with their GTA, Max Payne, Red Dead Redemption, or 2k games with the wonderful Bioshock, and of course even the infamous Ubisoft with their first Assassin's Creed or also the hated Electronic Arts with Dead Space. I am the kind of person that if I like an artist I listen to his entire discography and when I fall in love with the music of this artist, I listen to the same albums over and over again. For this reason, music in video games is the most important factor for me, and the reason why I never silence the soundtrack of any game. I feel that the true immersion of a game besides its visual and story features, is the music. This game is the clear example of using music to transport you to a feeling or a memory, and in fact, the game's story is about this very thing. To The Moon is a journey through the memories of an old man about to die, and throughout the adventure we will hear the same melody, which is always present in the game, and this is present because it is the connection of the old man with the love of his life, and that song was written to her and he always played it to remember her. Of course this not only applied to the story of the game and to generate a much bigger connection, but every time you listen to this song you're going to remember that feeling, you're going to remember that hard scene in the game and probably some really emotional moment. Though of course, visually it is a total work of art and it truly deserves this title. Through the beautiful colors and the melodic soundtrack, you end up entering worlds from which you will never leave again, and their memory will never go away. There are thousands of games that use this resource to transport you to these majestic worlds, and it is no mystery to anyone that their music will always make you remember them, because of course who is not transported to Los Santos when listening to the intro of San Andreas? or why do you think the radio of GTA San Andreas has been so acclaimed over the years? and who does not have nostalgic memories when listening to the mythical songs of Zelda or Mario Bros somewhere? Claro que si, y la pregunta a la respuesta siempre será la misma. Los videojuegos son una de las forma de arte más complejas que existen actualmente, pues se combinan artes como la literatura, pintura, el cine (A veces), la música y la arquitectura (A veces). Además de todo lo mencionado, también utilizan muchísimos elementos complejos como pueden ser la programación, el conocimiento en diseño de videojuegos, escenarios y por supuesto saber combinar todos los elementos para que en conjunto, formen una verdadera obra de arte. Todo esto es algo que una vez que lo analizas, te das cuenta de lo increíblemente ingenioso, complejo e increíble que es el trabajo de desarrollar un videojuego, y por esta razón suelo admirar bastante a los desarrolladores indies que realizan sus juegos solos o con el apoyo de nada más un par de personas y por esto siento que los juegos indie tienen mucho más mérito que un AAA, donde suelen estar miles de persona dentro de su desarrollo, y tienen detrás equipos gigantescos de marketting y empresarios sin corazón que solo buscan maximizar ganancias, sin importarles que su juego pueda llegar a ser malo o salir roto en su lanzamiento por no querer darle a los desarrolladores la libertad y tiempos necesarios para realizar un juego decente. ![20230327120351_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/chanclex/23vhWHaNX6b6jo5QHktw2w7ERYHbx8Tci91bCk44C441tPgvu4ovwSiGudvXeNuAw4GYV.jpg) Por supuesto, para nada estoy diciendo que un AAA no pueda llegar a ser arte al igual que un indie, existen muchísimos juegos que son la total excepción, y más en la industria de videojuegos de hace años como puede ser el caso de Rockstar con sus GTA, Max Payne, Red Dead Redemption, o 2k games con el maravilloso Bioshock, y por supuesto hasta la infame Ubisoft con sus primeros Assassin's Creed o también la odiada Electronic Arts con Dead Space. Soy el tipo de persona que si le gusta un artista se escucha toda su discografía entera y cuando se enamora de la música de este artista, escucha los mismos discos una y otra vez. Por esta razón, la música en los videojuegos es el factor más importante para mí, y la razón por la que jamás silencio la banda sonora de ningún juego. Siento que la verdadera inmersión de un juego además de sus características visuales y de historia, es la música. Este juego es la clara muestra de utilizar la música para transportarte a un sentimiento o a un recuerdo, y de hecho, la historia del juego trata de esto mismo. To The Moon es un viaje a través de los recuerdos de un viejo a punto de morir, y durante toda la aventura escucharemos la misma melodía, que siempre está presente en el juego, y ésta está presente por ser la conexión del viejo con el amor de su vida, y dicha canción se la escribió a ella y siempre la tocaba para recordarla. Por supuesto esto no solo aplicó para la historia del juego y para generar una conexión mucho mayor, sino que cada vez que escuches esta canción vas a recordar ese sentimiento, vas a recordar esa escena dura en el juego y probablemente algún momento de verdad emotivo. Aunque claro, visualmente es una obra de arte total y tiene de verdad merecido este título. Por supuesto estoy hablando de One Shot, del cual también hablé en un [post pasado ](https://beta.peakd.com/hive-140217/@chanclex/one-shot-or-el-indie-mas-hermoso-que-he-jugado-en-toda-mi-vida-the-most-beauthiful-indie-ive-ever-played-in-my-life-esp-eng)así que no profundizaré tanto sobre este juego. A través de los colores hermosos y la banda sonora melódica, terminas entrando a mundos de los cuales jamás podrás salir de nuevo, y su recuerdo jamás se irá. Existen miles de juegos que usan este recurso para transportarte a estos majestuosos mundos, y no es misterio para nadie que su música siempre te va a hacer recordarlos, porque por supuesto ¿Quién no se transporta a Los Santos cuando escucha la intro del San Andreas? o ¿Por qué creen que la radio del GTA San Andreas ha sido tan aclamada con el pasar de los años? y ¿Quién no tiene recuerdos nostálgicos al escuchar las míticas canciones de Zelda o Mario Bros en algún sitio?
