Mi nombre es Angélica Velásquez, pero los amigos me dicen Angie y así me pueden llamar ustedes porque desde hoy espero que seamos buenos amigos. Tengo 24 años y soy del lugar donde nacieron las arepas, las hallacas, el Kerepakupai Vená (Salto Ángel), los médanos de Coro y el relámpago del Catatumbo, soy del país con nombre de mujer Venezuela, soy del territorio de Latinoamérica donde resaltamos por nuestra amabilidad, humildad, disposición, alegría y ocurrencias, pero lo más importantes es que destacamos por ser resilientes y emprendedores.

Nací y me críe en la ciudad crepuscular de Venezuela, Barquisimeto, la cual me regala hermosos atardeceres cada día, llenándome de inspiración y buenas vibras en momentos cuanto más los he necesitado. Resulta maravilloso ver caer las tardes en mi ciudad, caminas de regreso a tu casa y el cielo es tu compañero fiel. Mi familia es el pilar principal en mi vida, tengo dos padres luchadores y trabajadores que me han enseñado que en el esfuerzo se consiguen los verdaderos resultados, nunca fueron severos pero siempre exigían lo mejor cada uno de nosotros. Mi mamá, Marysabel Escobar, es el lado estricto y disciplinado del hogar, es sistemática y espera que cumplamos con los procesos correctos hacia la excelencia. Mi papá, Juan Carlos Velásquez, es lo contrario, carismático, amigable y soñador, siempre tiene una idea y es fiel creyente de que será posible, gracias a la constancia y el trabajo duro. Mis padres son la prueba de que los opuestos se atraen, ambos son diferentes en carácter y personalidad pero no dejan de complementarse y apoyarse mutuamente, suelo escuchar diferencias entre los dos por cualquier tema, pero en su mayoría terminan riéndose del momento o por alguna broma que mencione mi papá. De su constante apoyo e impulso logré iniciar la carrera de Comunicación Social, en la cual desde los primeros semestres tuve la oportunidad de adquirir grandes experiencias que hicieron fortalecer mi gran amor por esta profesión, a través de un programa radial llamado Venezuela Verde transmitido por Radio Fe y alegría aprendí a hacer una producción radial, un guion radiofónico y locución profesional. Pasé de apoyar en los controles técnicos a ser la asistente de producción, posteriormente la productora del programa y luego a hacer la locución, Venezuela verde fue mi escuela y los mejores 3 años para una aprendiz de periodista que nunca pensó hacer radio. Gracias a esa experiencia, actualmente soy la productora y locutora del programa radial Voces Solidarias, un programa dedicado a la promoción y defensa de los derechos humanos que pertenece a la Red de Derechos Humanos del estado Lara (REDHELARA) y está avalado por el Programa Venezolano de Educación Acción en Derechos Humanos (Provea), me siento con una gran responsabilidad en la realización de cada emisión, porque en Voces Solidarias somos la voz de la injusticia y la denuncia en contra de la violación de los derechos humanos en el país y me gusta pensar que somos el granito de arena que suma en la solución de los problemas. Cabe destacar que me encuentro terminando la carrera universitaria, pero admito que no ha sido fácil, debido a la situación económica del país que ocasiona que los costos en los aranceles vayan en aumento cada semestre y esto alargue mi llegada a la meta pero no la detenga, pues no hay que olvidar que han enseñado que a pesar de todo continúe luchando por mis objetivos. Y desde pequeña he sido así, caracterizada por ser muy enérgica, preguntona, habladora, curiosa y hasta entrometida, era de las niñas que iba con su abuela a los rosarios y decía en voz alta “¿Rezan mucho porque se las pasan chismeando y a Diosito no le gusta?” y quiero aclarar que siempre era de forma ingenua, pero no dejaba de caer en la imprudencia. También fui peleona y esto se debe a mi supervivencia de crecer con dos hermanos que me trataban como un niño más y aunque rara vez ganaba una disputa, ellos solían salir con tantos raspones terminaba yo. Jugué metra, fútbol, beisbol, carreras, lucha libre, boxeo y cualquiera de las cosas que proponían mis hermanos, los recuerdos los llevo en mis cicatrices en brazos, rodilla y frente, todos resultado de las aventuras de 3 niños creciendo juntos. Nunca me quedaba con la duda de cómo era alguna actividad en la escuela, quise estar en el coro porque creía que tenía el talento y estuve por 2 años, quise aprender a tocar la flauta y aprendí 2 canciones, quise aprender salsa y estuve por 1 año, estuve en la banda, pertenecí a equipos de fútbol femenino y fui capitana de kickball por 5 años, hice teatro, baile folclórico y fui reina en la escuela. Sin embargo, mi verdadera pasión la conocí a los 6 años, cuando a mi hermano le asignan en la secundaría leer un libro y escribir un resumen, él no se veía muy entusiasmado e intentaba cada noche sentarse en la sala y leer unas cuantas páginas, pero se distraía y prefería dejarlo, uno de esos días, después de abandonar el libro luego de 10 minutos de lectura, tomé al “Caballero de la armadura oxidada” y comienzo a curiosear sobre qué trataba. Para mi sorpresa cada palabra que leía resonaba en mi cabeza y comenzaba a imaginarme a ese caballero y cómo se vería con su armadura, pasaba las páginas con velocidad, sumergida por completo en la historia porque quería descubrir qué iba a pasar con ese personaje con el cual simpatizaba, ese libro significó mi apertura en este fantástico mundo de la lectura, pues esa noche estuve leyendo por varias horas. La siguiente noche esperé que mi hermano abandonara el libro como de costumbre luego de unos minutos de desesperación y tomé mi turno para leer luego que él se alejó, me adentré una vez más en la historia que tardé 4 o 5 días en finalizar. Una tarde comencé a comentar con mi mamá sobre la historia, recuerdo que ella me explicaba algunas cosas que no había entendido por completo o de las cuales tenía duda, después de todo la novela dejaba una enseñanza profunda. Empecé a tomar libros de la biblioteca familiar y al observar que mi interés era genuino, mi mamá comenzó a comprarme algunos que creía iba a disfrutar. Hasta ahora no puedo enumerar la cantidad de historias que he leído pero me atrevo a decir que más de 100. A los 8 comencé a escribir mis propias historias y canciones, estaba en el coro en esos momentos y algunas las cantamos en actividades especiales de la escuela, mi profesora de ese entonces me alentaba a escribir todo lo que viniera a mi mente, su aprobación me animaba a ser cada vez más creativa y apasionada. Cuando tocaba hacer una obra de teatro la encarga del guion era yo y nunca olvidé escribir un personaje para mí porque también me gustaba actuar, los aplausos siempre me llenaban, disfrutaba la sensación de que otros vieran o leyeran algo de mi autoría, y esos sentimientos resurgen al escribir para esta hermosa comunidad de HIVE. I never had doubts about what any activity in school was, I wanted to be in the choir because I thought I had the talent and I was there 2 years, I wanted to learn to play the flute and I learned 2 songs, I wanted to learn salsa and I was there 1 year, I was in the band, I belonged to girls soccer teams and I was captain of kickball for 5 years, I did theater, folkloric dance and I was queen in school. I was never ashamed because curiosity prevailed. However, I met my true passion when I was 6 years old, when my brother was assigned in high school to read a book and write a summary, he did not look very enthusiastic and tried every night to sit in the living room and read a few pages, but he got distracted and preferred to leave it, one of those days, after leaving the book after 10 minutes of reading, I took the "Knight of the rusty armor" and began to pry what it was about. To my surprise every word I read echoed in my head and I began to imagine that knight and how he would look with his armor, I turned the pages with speed, completely immersed in the story because I wanted to find out what was going to happen to that character with whom I sympathized, that book meant my opening in this fantastic world of reading, because that night I was reading for several hours. The next night I waited for my brother to leave the book as usual after a few minutes of despair and I took my turn to read after he left, I got into the story once again and it took me 4 or 5 days to finish it. One afternoon I began to comment with my mom about the story, I remember her explaining to me some things that I had not fully understood or about which I had doubts, after all the novel left a profound teaching. I began to take books from the family library and observing that my interest was genuine, my mother began to buy me some that she thought I would enjoy.
